Introduction

Time: 30 mins

Welcome to our take-home professional development course, where you will create a physical computing artifact based on a story from your life, design a visual narrative of your story, add circuitry, program your LEDs to convey your story, and more! This curriculum blends Indian education with computer science standards and can be run in any classroom, as it implements math, science, ELA, social studies, and visual arts standards for grades 4-6. Teachers need not be experts in computer science to implement this curriculum.

In this professional development, we will address:

  • engaging CS pedagogical content through IEFA
  • introducing CS to your students
  • teaching computational practices that work for all learners
  • providing alternative methods of assessing student learning.

Before the lessons begin, take some time to review some materials concerning computer science education.
