Lesson Planning 1

Time: 2 hours

During this professional development, we want you to experience the curriculum both as learners and as instructors. Some lessons are simply a reading exercise (such as 1-2), and some we want you to analyze as an instructor.

For this activity, choose two of these three lessons for which to become an expert.

The task is to design a lesson plan for students of grades 4-6. In your lesson, address:

  • What teachers are doing in each activity
  • What students are doing in each activity
  • What some differentiation strategies might be
  • How you are connecting American Indian education to computer science

This does not need to be as detailed as a formal lesson plan, but it should cover everything that will happen during the lesson, and address the four bullets above. Formatting of this is flexible and can be up to you, but it should be a single entry in your journal.

Later, you will come back to the lessons that you created and complete a self-reflection.
